Review: This split release features old hands and young guns alike, but the common bond is a predilection for tough underground techno. BCR Boys set the tone with "Format", where a hammering rhythm is fuelled by a growling bass and the minimal beats are titanium-plated. Niereich continues in this vein with "Morpheus", where crispy drums and a splurging acid riff complement the pumping backing. Acid of a more refined nature is audible on Synewave boss Damon Wild's take on 88UW's "Greyscale", as it pans away to infinity, while 88UW's original take is also worth checking; a grimier, more rolling take on the template laid down by Wild and his label in the 90s.
